Festival of letters and Bulgarian identity
We are pleased to invite you to the fifth edition of Parade in Bulgaria and gathering of the Bulgarian community in Elk Grove Village. Сan event that brings together the Bulgarian spirit, traditions, and community far from their homeland. This year, the initiative is organized by the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Chicago in cooperation with the Elk Grove Village City Hall.
The parade is dedicated to Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius May 24– May 24th, Bulgarian Alphabet, Enlightenment, and Culture, and Slavic Literacy. This is the day we honor the creators of the Slavic script and mark the significance of education, culture, and spirituality for Bulgarian identity. It is precisely through letters and knowledge that Bulgaria leaves its lasting mark on European civilization.
Bulgarian Sunday schools, cultural centers, folklore ensembles, and organizations from the area are invited to participate in the festive procession – all those who preserve and pass on Bulgarian traditions.
Parade, stage, and gathering – a celebration for the whole family
After the parade, the traditional Gathering of the Bulgarian Community will also take place, organized by Bulgarian Arts and Cultural Exchange. On the big stage, you will enjoy a rich cultural program with dances and lots of music.
