ABOUT ROMANA:
"An American Triptych, at first glance a light and entertaining read, is a book about the search for roots, for possible or impossible redemption. The novel fills a space left unoccupied in contemporary Bulgarian literature by focusing on the fate of several generations of immigrants in America.
REVIEWS BY BULGARIAN WRITERS
~ Palmy Ranchev
"It's been a long time since I've read such a gripping novel. Rich language, eventful plot and a kaleidoscope of human characters. The material used is truly rich."
~ Zdravka Vladova-Momcheva
"The transformation of nostalgia into a creative process of resurrecting the past, the constant openness of the narrative to options and possibilities for achieving solutions outline the merits and contributions of American Triptych to the flow of contemporary Bulgarian literature."
~ Ludmil Dimitrov
"There are immigrants who love their homeland more than those who live in it! The judgment is a sobering emphasis in Lyudmila Kaloyanova's novel American Triptych, but it can be understood as a representative slogan of the Bulgarian fate after the fall of the Berlin Wall."
~ Gergina Dvoretska
"I like books that not only give answers, but make the listener ask questions and think about them. American Triptych is such a book. Add the author's ability to paint memorable images with a few strokes and her delicate weaving of a beautiful love story into the narrative, and the novel is a truly impressive read."
~ Diana Savateva
"The skilled pen is evident not only in the lightness of the narrative, but also in the ability to weave intrigue and keep interest awake from the first page to the last. Beyond the gripping narrative is Kaloyanova's lyrical insight as well as the philosophical maturity of an artist who has chosen to divide his life between two very different realities."
~ Natalia Nedyalkova
"This extraordinary book is read in one breath, but also reread with bated breath, because each reading reveals new layers and new messages."
