Rock, Pop, and Retro: The Three Big Festivals of the Summer

There's one moment each festival holds close. The lights dim, the first chords play, and thousands of voices sing the same song. In that moment, it doesn't matter where you came from or how far you live – for a few hours, you're just part of the crowd.

The summer of 2026 offers three such moments, each with its own character: the youthful energy of Sofia, the rock power of Plovdiv, and the seaside nostalgia of Burgas.

Sofia: nearest event

The first festival is also the most recent. On June 27 and 28 Borisova Gradina is turning into a stage for Sofia Live Festival – two days of contemporary music in the heart of the capital. In just a few years, the festival has established itself among the significant international events in Bulgaria and today attracts audiences from neighboring countries as well.

Among the confirmed names this year are IDLES and Three Days Grace, and on the second night, British legends Underworld will take the stage. During the day, the park's alleys are full of people; in the evening, the stage gathers thousands – precisely the kind of urban atmosphere that makes many return every summer.

And one more thing for families: the festival has a dedicated children's area, so you can definitely come with your kids.

Plovdiv: The meeting of rock

A month later, Plovdiv changes its rhythm. By July 24 to 26 The rowing center is hosting one of the biggest rock events in the Balkans – Hills of Rock. Three days, tens of thousands of fans, and a poster that gets heavier every year.

The festival began as an ambitious idea, and today it is among the most recognizable music brands in the country. For many, summer is now unthinkable without a few days in Plovdiv filled with concerts and meetings with friends from different countries.

Among the headliners for 2026 are names like Marilyn Manson, Godsmack, and Sex Pistols. For rock and metal fans, this is the meeting of the year – and the full lineup is being complemented and announced on the official website.

Burgas: A Summer of Memories

And when August comes, the music moves to the seaside. August 7 and 8 The Burgas Seaport is turning into a stage for SPICE Music Festival – the biggest retro event in the country, dedicated to music from the 90s to today.

Here, the program relies on nostalgia – hits that entire generations remember from the radio, discos, and summer evenings. Among the confirmed names for 2026 are Luis Fonsi (of „Despacito“), Thomas Anders from Modern Talking, Right Said Fred, and Jenny Berggren – the voice of Ace of Base.

When familiar hits ring out over the harbor, age ceases to matter. Thousands of people sing the same songs that have been part of their memories for decades.

When and where: August 7-8, Port of Burgas, Burgas. Program and tickets: Spice Music Fest
